Your camera stays
on your device.
Camera processing
Gesture Synth uses your browser's camera permission to recognize finger counts and hand positions in real time. Video frames and hand landmarks are processed locally on your device. We do not transmit, sell, or use them to identify you.
Audio
Sound is generated locally by the Web Audio API. The site does not request microphone access. The recording tool captures only the synthesized output created by Gesture Synth.
Optional performance recording
Recording starts only after you select Record, choose settings, and complete the visible countdown. Your browser combines the camera treatment, visual effects, interface labels, and synthesized audio into a local video file. Gesture Synth does not upload that file to our server.
Selecting Save downloads the file through your browser. Selecting Share passes it and an attributed Gesture Synth site link to the browser or operating system share sheet when supported; the destination may keep or discard the link and then handles the shared data under its own privacy terms.
After a recording finishes, Gesture Synth attempts to store a copy in My Works using IndexedDB in the current browser profile. My Works keeps up to 12 recordings within an approximate 350 MB budget. A storage failure does not remove the current result, so you can still download it before replacing the preview or closing the page. Clearing site data or private-browsing storage can remove saved works. See the recording and My Works guide for the complete workflow.
Site data
Gesture Synth does not require an account. Cloudflare may process ordinary request, security, and performance data, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website.
Google Analytics 4 is optional and loads only after you select Allow analytics. It may place or read analytics cookies and process information such as viewed pages, browser and device type, approximate location, IP-derived information, and analytics identifiers. Advertising storage, Google signals, and ad personalization remain disabled.
Links created by the sharing tools may include tags showing that the visit came from a player share. Challenge links also include a random challenge ID plus the song, score, and accuracy target needed to open the challenge. These values do not include your name, camera footage, hand landmarks, recording file, or device identifier. Camera footage, hand data, synthesized audio, and local recordings are never sent to Google Analytics.
Advertising services
Gesture Synth may use Google AdSense to support the free service. When advertising is enabled, Google and other third-party vendors may place or read advertising cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers as a result of ad serving. These technologies can be used to serve and measure ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites, limit repeated ads, detect fraud and abuse, and produce aggregate reporting.
Google's use of advertising cookies may allow Google and its partners to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. The planned advertising service is Google AdSense; if another vendor or ad network is enabled, its identity and available opt-out controls will be disclosed here before it serves ads.
Where required, advertising and optional storage will not be enabled until the applicable consent process is complete. Learn more about how Google uses information from partner sites and how Google uses cookies in advertising.
Your control
You can stop a recording, stop the camera from the instrument controls, close the page, or revoke camera permission in browser settings at any time. Use Privacy choices to allow or withdraw optional analytics. No account is required.
