What Gesture Synth is

Gesture Synth is an independently operated browser instrument. It turns one-to-five-finger gestures into tuned notes and chords, offers guided Song Quest performances, and can create local video recordings without requiring an account or installation.

How it is built

Hand landmark detection, gesture stabilization, music mapping, synthesis, visual rendering, and recording run in the browser. Camera frames, hand landmarks, synthesized audio, and recording files are not uploaded to a Gesture Synth application server.

Music and sources

Song Quest uses Gesture Synth's own single-line versions of public-domain compositions and traditional melodies. Each playable chart stores its own notes, timing, and gesture cues. The site does not include third-party recordings, MIDI files, modern editions, or lyrics.

Why the site exists

Gesture Synth was built to make camera-controlled music usable without an installation, account, or special controller. The instrument and its guides are maintained together so the instructions, browser support information, and privacy claims can be checked against the product itself.
